All About Fate of Factions

A Free for All Arena Fighting game!

Fate of Factions is a 2-4 Player Free-for-All Arena Fighting Game! Each player chooses from four unique classes: Warrior, Rogue, Ranger, or Mage. Every class has potential to be played in a variety of different ways. Use each character in a vastly different arena locations to fight until the whole realm is flying your faction’s banner!

Programmer

I'm from Oshkosh, Wisconsin and I'm currently in my senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. I decided to work on Fate of Factions because I thought that its fast pace and variety of characters to play as would be a lot of fun to play and work on. My favorite games are the Monster Hunter series. My favorite class is Fate of Faction is the Warrior, and my favorite faction is the Coast,

Haden Gregor

Artist, Particles and UI Design

I am a super senior at Stout. I am in the Game Design - Art program and am working toward my passion in 3D modeling as I work on a few games including Fate of Factions. I chose FoF as the game I wanted to help create because it was the type of game I always enjoyed to play as a kid, and even now. I have always enjoyed fast-paced, multiplayer games where you can face friends of different classes. My current favorite faction is the Coast, and my favorite class is the mage. My favorite game right now that I am playing is League of Legends. I have been a huge fan of PC games and the teamwork and enjoyment of fighting other players that come with this type of game. I am inspired by the artwork and particle effects that are present in games like LoL, and it inspires me as I help create this game with my team.

Joshua Haakana

Creative Lead, Character Artist, Modeler, and Texture Artist

My role on the team is Creative Lead because I created the idea of Fate of Factions and continue to help shape the game. I also am the Character Designer of the team and model and texture every class in game. My passion is Player versus Player so this project is exactly what I was looking for in a capstone project. My favorite faction currently is the Forest, and my favorite class is the Ranger. My current favorite game to play is Temtem. Video Games have been my favorite pastime since I can remember. Being able to work on them as a student, eventually a professional, is a dream come true. I want to keep improving my work and hope to work on the games I love to play someday.

I am a senior in the Game Design and Development and the Applied Mathematics majors at UW-Stout. I choose to work on Fate of Factions as competitive couch games are always enjoyable with friends.  I find similar enjoyment competing with friends in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. My current favorite faction in the game is the Swamp, and my current favorite class is the Mage.

I chose Fate of Factions because I love couch game play between family and friends and a splash of customization with competition makes for one sweet combination! My favorite FoF class is a Rogue and my favorite faction is the Forest. Currently, my favorite game is Stardew Valley.

Christina Miller

I am a senior in the Computer Science  - Game Design and Development major at UW-Stout. I am from Green Bay, WI. I chose to work on Fate of Factions because of its "easy to learn, hard to master" idea, and the ability to play with friends in a couch based setting. Fate of Factions also provided a type of game that I thought would be fun to create. My favorite class in FoF is the Warrior, and my favorite faction is the Mountain. My favorite games right now include League of Legends, Iratus: Lord of the Dead, and Darkest Dungeon, among many others.

I'm proud to be the Art Lead for Fate of Factions! Throughout my time at Stout, I had grown a little weary of the typical narrative-based capstone experience. Fate of Factions presented a unique opportunity for the capstone project: I was immediately captivated with the idea of building an engaging multiplayer experience with a well thought out scope - one with the opportunity for boatloads of fun from a game development standpoint, as well as the potential for plenty of personality and creativity to run free when designing the world collaboratively with our group of artists. Currently, I've been playing plenty of Animal Crossing for the GameCube in anticipation for the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch! My current favorite Faction is the Forest, and my favorite class is the stoic Warrior.

Callie Swensen

I am an artist for Fate of Factions! My job on the team is creating 3D props, UI, and 2D animations. I joined the Fate of Factions crew because I loved the concept art when the game was originally pitched! I also liked the idea of high replayability and fast matches. In my free time, I play D&D with my friends, draw, and occasionally play a round or two of Smash Bros. Ultimate. I enjoy the Animal Crossing and Pokémon series, GTA V Online, and Fortnite, and I have recently started a new game of Divinity 2: Original Sin with some friends.

I am a senior at UW Stout specializing in environment art. For the Fate of Factions project, I am the character animator. I joined the Fate of Factions team because it was a fun and compelling party game idea that was the perfect size for a 2 semester project. My current favorite class in the game is the Rogue, and my favorite faction is the Swamp. My favorite game right now is Risk of Rain 2.

I'm currently in my last semester at Berklee College of Music finishing Contemporary Writing and Production Major and Video Game Scoring Minor. As a composer, I really enjoy writing music for film and video game, that’s why I decided to work on Fate of Factions. My favorite games are DOTA2, Metro series, Shadow of Mordor and Borderlands series.

Music Composition - Main Menus and Coast Arena

I'm originally from Tokyo, Japan, now living in Hawaii. I am a 7th semester film scoring major with a video game scoring minor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Just as with film, I believe that audio is an essential part of a successful and enjoyable video game. I am looking forward to working on Fate of Factions and enhancing it's gameplay experience through music and sound design. Some of my favorite games include Smash Ultimate, the Final Fantasy series, and Jubeat. I have also been playing League of Legends since season one, and hope that my experience with MOBA games can translate to Fate of Factions.
